Diamond Rings And Micropavé

What exactly is micropavé all about? It is a design that is made using magnifying lenses because it involves setting tiny diamonds or other stones in rows. As opposed to macropavé, this involves using very small stones and they are set on a curved surface. Stones of the same size are used and the result is a brilliant and dazzling honeycomb-like setting. It is also called minipavé. The word is taken from pave which means a pavement set with cobblestones.

These diamond rings were made possible only after diamond cutters discovered the art of cutting microscopic diamonds to rigid specifications. This style is also very popular in diamond engagement rings where one single diamond in the middle is flanked by two strips of micropavé. The problem with this design is that a slight hit or even wear and tear of the metal can cause a stone to fall out and that in turn affects the setting of all the stones around it. Ideally, these diamond rings are great for once-in-a-while dressy occasions.
